The Mets have signed left-handed reliever Justin Hampson to a minor league deal, Baseball America reported. Like Casey Fossum, the 30-year-old Hampson is expected to report directly to minor league camp.

Hampson last appeared in the majors in 2008 with the San Diego Padres ,when he made 35 relief appearances. From 2006 through that season with the Colorado Rockies and Padres, he was 5-4 with a 3.38 ERA in 79 appearances (one start).

Hampson was signed by the independent Long Island Ducks midway through last season and did not appear in affiliated baseball. He also appeared for York.
