video Nick Evans is out of options. That means, if he does not make the major league team, he has to be passed through waivers in order to be sent to Triple-A Buffalo. Evans has another impediment with the signings of Scott Hairston to a major league contract and Willie Harris to a minor league deal. Watch Evans speak about those factors with ESPNNewYork.com's Adam Rubin in Port St. Lucie on Thursday.

As for signing Hairston and Harris, Evans said: "Well, I never thought for two seconds that they weren't going to sign somebody. You kind of expect that they're going to sign guys. It's just what has to be done. As long as you come into camp knowing there's an opportunity to win a job, that's all you can ask for."
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
