Dallas Baptist wins Fort Worth Regional
The Patriots (42-18), in their sixth season as an NCAA Division I independent, advanced to their first super regional. The will face California, which rallied to beat Baylor, 9-8, in the Houston Regional final.
Ryan Behmanesh had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs for Dallas Baptist, which sent 11 batters to the plate in the first inning. Jason Krizan, Behmanesh, Kenny Hatcher, Austin Elkins, Josh Wilson, Tyler Robbins and Landon Anderson all had run-scoring hits.
Oral Roberts put the tying run on second in the eighth with the heart of its order coming up, but closer Chris Haney struck out Chris Elder and Brandon King to end it.
King had a grand slam and Elder drove in three runs for the Golden Eagles (39-22).
