Source: Trey Haverty to coach TCU safeties

February, 16, 2011
TCU will name Trey Haverty as safeties coach Wednesday, according to a source.

Haverty was defensive coordinator at Millsaps College in Mississippi last season and was a TCU graduate assistant for head coach Gary Patterson from 2007-09.

Haverty replaces Chad Glasgow, who left to become defensive coordinator at Texas Tech.

TCU was 23-3 in Haverty’s final two seasons with TCU, including the school’s first appearance in a BCS game (Fiesta Bowl).

Haverty was an All-America wide receiver at Texas Tech during his playing days, which ended in 2004. He coached at Cisco Junior College and Midlothian High School before his first stint at TCU.
Richard Durrett joined in September 2009. He writes about colleges, the Dallas Stars and the Texas Rangers. Richard spent nine years at The Dallas Morning News covering the Rangers, Stars, colleges, motorsports and high schools.
