Shoulder issues still impacting Jerrod Johnson
Johnson, who had offseason surgery on his throwing shoulder, had trouble making accurate throws. He had eight interceptions total against Florida International and Oklahoma State and after a rough loss to Missouri, a change was made. The Aggies were 3-3 when they decided to split time at quarterback between Johnson and Ryan Tannehill against Kansas.
Tannehill than started the next game against Texas Tech and has stayed in that spot with Johnson as the backup.
"His shoulder wasn't completely healthy," Rossley said. "He's a record holder and has had a great career at A&M. He had the surgery and rehabbed and came back for two-a-days and was still hurting a little bit. The doctors kept telling us, 'He'll get better. He'll get better. He'll get better.' We made it through the first three of four games and he really couldn't stick the ball where he needed to. His recovery was taking a little bit longer than we hoped. There came a point where we had to make change. He's still a good quarterback. He's going to get over that thing. It still bothers him a little bit, but he's much better now than he was at the beginning of the year."
