TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte, on his way to Austin for today's baseball super regional between Texas and TCU, was pleased that the Mountain West Conference went ahead and added Boise State to the league starting in 2011-12.

"I think from all the chaos that is going around, everyone has to look out for themselves and their own," Del Conte said. "This a great move for the Moutain West. Boise State has a great athletic program and they've been tremendous in football the last decade. We've had some great battles with them at TCU."

Del Conte said that the conference needed to do what it could to stay strong and he feels this move does that. He did not comment on whether the MWC might look at additional expansion moves or what might happen.

"I can only comment on what I know," Del Conte said. "We have some incredible teams in this conference and Boise adds to that. A rising tide lifts all boats and this is going to lift all of us."

TCU lost to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl after last season. The Broncos finished undefeated and dealt TCU its first loss. Boise State also played TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl a season earlier. A TCU win ended Boise State's perfect season. So the move certainly creates an interesting and competitive in-conference rivalry between the schools.
