HOUSTON -- Baylor sophomore forward Quincy Acy was miffed at two calls that didn't go his way.

With 1:19 left and Duke on a roll, leading 70-62, Tweety Carter was part of defensive trap that surrounded Duke guard Jon Scheyer in the backcourt. Trying to escape, Scheyer held up the ball with his elbows extended. Unable to break free, Duke called timeout. Tempers flared and several players reacted with Acy getting in the middle of things.

Once the teams were separated and went to their respective benches for the timeout, it was announced that Acy was hit with a technical foul. Scheyer hit both free throws to extend the lead to 10 points, more or less icing on the decisive Duke run.

"The dude started swinging elbows and we got called for a technical, but not on him," Acy said. "I think if you swing your elbows you should be called for a tech."

Acy said he did not receive an explanation.

"Scheyer threw the elbows when it was just a simple trap," Acy said. "I don’t understand how you throw elbows and don’t get it called."

Baylor coach Scott Drew didn't seem to understand the one-sided call, but feigned forgetfulness at the explanation: "I forget what the explanation was," he said.

Acy was also whisted for a charge on a strong baseline drive with 4:37 to go and Baylor leading, 59-57. A close call, the referee ruled that Duke's 7-foot center Brian Zoubek had position. Duke hit a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession for a five-point swing and a 60-59 lead.

"It wasn't that big, I mean, you know, the ref made the call," Baylor forward Ekpe said. "We didn't get the stop. if we would have gotten the stop, it wouldn't have been as big."
