Lomers has tough finale with fouls
Lomers' Duke counterpart, 7-footer Brian Zoubek finished with nine rebounds, with four coming on the offensive end, plus five points and a pair of assists.
Duke dominated the backboards, 43-37, clutching 23 offensive rebounds that led to 23 second-chance points. The killer was an offensive board by Lance Thomas off Nolan Smith's missed free throw with 3:36 to go. His first made three throw tied the game at 61-61. Thomas got the rebound, kicked it back out to Smith, who buried a 3-pointer for a 64-61 lead that Duke would never relinquish.
"It was horrible you know, but I had faith in my team," Lomers said. "They are all good players and they can do what they need to do. As much as I hated it I had faith in my team."
