HOUSTON -- What a flurry by the Baylor Bears, going on a 10-0 run before a suddenly careless Duke squad stopped the bleeding with about 27 seconds left in the half. The Bears raced to the locker room with a 35-32 lead as the partisan crowed roared.

LaceDarius Dunn is making a strong case as MVP of the entire tournament. He was sensational again with a game-high 13 points. Tweety Carter has 10 points and a pair of assists. Ekpe Udoh has been held to four points and one rebound.

After going down 29-25, the Baylor defense picked up the intensity and forced three consecutive turnovers as the Bears sprinted for buckets, including a Quincy Acy dunk, a steal and dunk by Dunn and a beautiful drop-back pass from Dunn to Carter, who buried the 3-pointer for Baylor's largest lead of the game, 35-29.

Andre Dawkins settled things down for Duke with a 3-pointer from the wing to end Baylor's run.

Duke's pressure, man-to-man defense was giving Baylor trouble as the Bears had seven turnovers leading to 10 Duke points. But, that turned around quickly in the final minutes.

If the Blue Devils can feel good about anything at halftime it's that star Kyle Singler, who picked up two early fouls, is 0-of-6 from the floor and scoreless. They must figure he'll heat up, while leading scorer Jon Scheyer has just six points. Nolan Smith has done the damage with 12 points.

The Bears have to like the way they stayed in the game, were patient offensively in the face of stiff defense and then used their defense late in the half to create offense. The late flurry gave the Bears a 7-0 advantage in fastbreak points and they have a 6-3 edge in second-chance points, an area Duke said it needed to control.
