SMU is sailing in paradise, 31-0 at half
The Mustangs' opening two drives of the first half resulted in touchdowns, needing just three plays and two plays, respectively. Their third drive stopped at the Nevada 4, settling for a field goal and a 17-0 first-quarter lead.
Padron has piled up 303 passing yards in carving up the Nevada defense. It wouldn't be fair to the Wolf Pack not to tell their whole side of the story as the first team in NCAA history to produce three 1,000-yard rushers in the same season. Both of Nevada's star running backs are not playing due to academic ineligibility and injury.
Clearly, the Pack's offense is nothing what it was in the regular season when it averaged 360 rushing yards a game. In the first half, Nevada has 66 rushing yards and 101 total yards.
It is total domination. SMU is 30 minutes away from its first eight-win season since 1984 when the Ponies finished 10-2 in 1984, not coincidentally, the last time the Mustangs played in a bowl game.
