Texas shows championship mettle

That was one of the more entertaining games of the season in College Station last night. It's easy to say rivalry games will be close and the the Aggies could make it interesting because of the emotion and the crowd, but it was more than that in Kyle Field.
A&M came in with a good gameplan and would not go away. They played hard and quarterback Jerrod Johnson showed the country that he can play. And if you're an Aggie fan, you have to think that the program may have taken a small step forward last night.
But Texas also proved it can win a game when its defense has a bad night. Colt McCoy was great and the Longhorn offense answered A&M every time, making sure the Aggies didn't overtake them at any time. Texas coach Mack Brown is right when he said good teams find ways to win whether it's defense, offense or special teams. It was the offense and special teams (95-yard kickoff return) on Thursday. Give them some credit for that.
Look for the Texas defense to bounce back against Nebraska next Saturday. And look for Texas A&M to go into a bowl game with some more confidence.
