• Valentine: “Coming into the season they were supposed to be 4-0 right now and were supposed to outpitch and outhit everyone. But in the first 4 games, what they’ve done is when they’ve hit they haven’t pitched and when they’ve pitched they haven’t hit.
“Probably the most unsettling thing right now is they need a win on Wednesday in the worst way, and they’re handing the ball over to Daisuke Matsuzaka. He had a great spring, but the Nation doesn’t feel good tonight.”
