Kelly's homecoming planned for Sunday
When manager Terry Francona saw the pitching schedule, he asked pitching coach John Farrell if he intentionally set it up that way for Kelly.
“I asked [Farrell], and he gave me that all-knowing look like he meant it. I don’t know if he’s that smart or not,” Francona said jokingly. “I think he actually knew.”
Kelly made his Red Sox debut on Wednesday against Northeastern University and worked one perfect inning (10 pitches, 7 strikes).
