Lackey surrenders 1 run over 5 innings

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Red Sox pitcher John Lackey, who earlier in the day was named the team's No. 2 starter to begin the season, gave up 1 earned run in 5 1/3 innings Thursday in a Grapefruit League game against the Mets. He threw 78 pitches (46 strikes), surrendered five hits, walked one and struck out two.
