BOSTON -- The Red Sox brass, at least those members not involved in transferring Liverpool star Fernando Torres to Chelsea for a British record 50 million pounds ($80.2 million U.S.), met with a group of 175 fans in a “town hall” meeting scheduled for later airing Monday night by NESN.

Sox chairman Tom Werner, CEO Larry Lucchino, GM Theo Epstein and manager Terry Francona met in what Lucchino said was the last of 14 such meetings since last spring, and the first to be televised. Majority owner John W. Henry was not scheduled to be here, so the timing of his soccer deal may have been purely coincidental.

Lucchino, however, said he had taken specific steps to ensure his focus remains on the Red Sox. “I burned my passport just a few weeks ago,’’ he said.

The meeting with the fans was scheduled to be shown by NESN at 9. The four principals also met with reporters for a brief time beforehand. We’ve tweeted some of the highlights but check back shortly on the ESPN Boston Red Sox blog for more.
