Whatever skepticism Liverpool soccer followers had about their new American owners, John W. Henry's New England Sports Ventures, is rapidly fading, especially after the Red knocked off first-place Chelsea, 2-0, in a raucous English Premier League match in Anfield Stadium Sunday.

The victory was the third straight in the Premier League and fourth overall for Liverpool, which had gotten off to a dreadful start before Henry and Co. gained control of the team in a successful takeover from the debt-ridden Tom Hicks. Now, the English papers are full of talk that Liverpool can still climb back into contention for a top-four finish.

Henry has attended the team's last two games with Sox chairman Tom Werner. His wife, Linda Pizzuti, has accompanied him, and is drawing her own press notices.

Pizzuti tweeted enthusiastically after Sunday's match. "We had some Red Sox folks there for their first match, & they were also blown away by the passion, humor, and power of LFC supporters,'' she wrote.
