BOSTON -- ESPN’s Buster Olney in his daily blog Sunday noted that Tampa Bay used eight pitchers to shut out the Royals 4-0 on Saturday, tying a major league record set by the Red Sox on Oct. 3, 1999, when they beat the Orioles 1-0 in 10 innings.

The eight for the Sox that day, in order: Pat Rapp, Rheal Cormier, Rich Garces, Derek Lowe, Tom Gordon, Rod Beck, Brian Rose and Tim Wakefield.
