SEATTLE -- Red Sox injured outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury (ribs) continues to rehab in Fort Myers, Fla., and could be days away from a minor-league rehab assignment, according to manager Terry Francona.

Ellsbury has “ramped” up his BP session the past few days and was scheduled to take today off. He’ll be back on the field on Friday, and in the next four to five days it’s likely he’ll play a couple of games for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox.

“It might be four or five days, or maybe it won’t be,” Francona said. “We’ll see. It could happen. It all depends how he feels. It’s a good way to start.”
