ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes sees some encouraging signs in this Red Sox team despite its sub-.500 record and last-place standing. In a piece posted today, Edes identifies six reasons why the Sox will be in the mix come October:

1. The starting pitching has bounced back.

2. The bullpen has stabilized.

3. They will get healthy.

4. The current offensive funk will not continue.

5. Youth will be served.

6. The clubhouse is coming around.

Edes sees a lot of similarities between this team and the 2004 edition, in the sense that a bold move or two could propel it to greatness if things fall the right way.
