MINNEAPOLIS -- Red Sox left-fielder Cody Ross left Wednesday night's game because of a sore left knee, according to a pressbox announcement.

Ross left after striking out in the sixth inning. He was replaced in left field by Darnell McDonald.

The Sox, with Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury and Jason Repko already on the disabled list, can ill afford to lose another outfielder. The Sox just added an outfielder, Marlon Byrd, in a trade with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night.

Ross had hit two home runs Monday night -- the first to tie the game, the second to win it. He singled in the second inning Wednesday to drive in a run and scored ahead of Mike Aviles' home run.
