Ex-Sox OF Moss designated for assignment
Moss, who along with reliever Craig Hansen went from Boston to Pittsburgh in the three-team trade that brought Jason Bay to the Sox (and sent Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers) in July 2008, hit .081 this spring while apparently losing a spare outfielder's job to John Raynor.
Moss, who started in right field much of last season, hit .232 with 13 home runs and 64 RBIs in 178 games with Pittsburgh.
