With the Cubs having a manager in place in Mike Quade, Theo Epstein wouldn’t speculate on whether he would consider hiring Terry Francona in Chcago but did speak generally about the former Sox manager.

“I have a close personal relationship with him. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him," Epstein said Tuesday. "Is he going to be a great manager for somebody again someday? Absolutely. Is he able to contribute to organizations in other ways, and serve the same role he served with the Indians, where he was a special assistant, made some good evaluations in the draft and the minor leagues? Absolutely.

"That’s going to be up to Terry, what's he going to do down the line. I wouldn’t look at it so much as, what’s he going to do next year as, what’s he going to do over the next two or three decades? I think he’s going to accomplish quite a bit.”
