BALTIMORE – Red Sox manager Terry Francona said on Tuesday that he was planning on batting Carl Crawford second in the order in the season finale, but changed his mind because of the amount of left-handed relief pitchers in Baltimore’s bullpen.

Instead Crawford is batting in the No. 8 spot again.

“They’re so willing to match up and they’re so willing to do it early, I’m just trying to make it a little more difficult,” explained Francona. “We have some balance and I want those first four guys hitting more than anybody else. That’s kind of it. I actually said it, but I was wrong.”
