BOSTON -- Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz participated in a light game of catch today and plans to work off the mound in a bullpen session on Monday.

He had been scheduled to throw a bullpen on Friday but the Red Sox decided to put it off a couple of days.

Buchholz, who remains on the DL with a lower-back injury, expressed frustration with his situation Friday, but said he's progressing.

“I’m throwing with some pretty good intensity right now,” Buchholz said. “It’s the downtime after I throw when the soreness comes. I still got a little bit of stuff there, so I think I could go out and throw a bullpen and it would feel the same after I threw long toss because it would be the same effort level. It’s getting better every day. I’ve said before I wasn’t going to do anything until I didn’t feel anything, so that’s where I’m at right now.”
