BALTIMORE -- With David Ortiz missing this series while serving a three-game suspension, how does Red Sox manager Terry Francona decide on his DH?

Monday, it was Jacoby Ellsbury, who reached base four times with three singles and a walk and scored three runs. Tuesday night, Carl Crawford was the DH after having played left field in his first game off the disabled list, with Ellsbury back in center and Josh Reddick in left after having played center on Monday. Both nights, J.D. Drew played right field. In Wednesday's matinee, Francona said, he may have Kevin Youkilis fill the role.

"[Monday], I just thought Ells was all over the field the night before,'' Francona said, alluding to the 16-inning game in Tropicana Field Sunday night, "and it was Carl's first day back. J.D. hadn't played every day and went in, so he's OK.

"Today, Carl ran probably more than he has all season [Monday night], so I figured if we do this [make him the DH], we had a pretty good chance of him playing tomorrow. I'm thinking of doing something with Youk tomorrow. I don't know how that's going to work. They've got a righty going (Jake Arrieta) going. We'll see.''
