BALTIMORE -- Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz and Orioles reliever Kevin Gregg will begin their suspensions Monday night after MLB reduced each of them to three games apiece for their roles in a July 8 melee at Fenway Park.

“I know what I did wasn't right thing to do,” Ortiz said Monday.

Both players had their punishments reduced from four games on appeal and both will miss the entire series between the two teams that kicks off Monday night in Baltimore.

Oufielder Jacoby Ellsbury will take Ortiz’s spot at DH for Monday’s game, hitting in his customary leadoff spot. Josh Reddick will play center field.

Here is Monday night’s Sox lineup:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, DH
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. Josh Reddick, CF
6. Carl Crawford, LF
7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
8. J.D. Drew, RF
9. Marco Scutaro, SS
SP -- Tim Wakefield, RHP
