PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Carl Crawford, who hasn’t played in a game since suffering a hamstring injury on June 17, was looking forward to testing his leg Friday night at McCoy Stadium in a rehab start for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

“I’m feeling pretty good. I’m excited about playing. I hope everything goes well,” said Crawford after the PawSox had taken batting practice in preparation for their game against the Durham Bulls.

The left fielder, who signed a seven-year, $142-million free-agent contract with the Boston Red Sox last winter, said there would be no restrictions.

“I’m going to try to play the way I always play,” said Crawford. “I’m going to be aggressive and see how it feels after the game.”

Crawford, who is batting third, is expecting to play six innings Friday night, and if all goes well he’ll play again Saturday night for Pawtucket. And if that goes well, Crawford will travel to Baltimore on Sunday and be activated on Monday to play for Boston in its series against the Orioles.
