PHOENIX -- So, Kevin Youkilis was asked here Monday how prevalent is the sentiment expressed by Baltimore reliever Kevin Gregg last weekend, that the Red Sox "think they are better than anybody else?''

"I don’t know, I've never really heard anyone say that the Red Sox think they’re better,'' he said. "A lot of it might be the spotlight in the media that follows the Red Sox, the Yankees, the bigger teams that it's put out there in a different light. I could be wrong, there might be people that think that way, but I think what happens is sometimes guys see something, or something's on their mind and they don’t like it.

"I don’t know why that came about. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that. If that’s true, I can say firsthand I don’t think I'm better than anyone in this room. Every time I come in here I always feel there are a lot better players than myself.''

Is there a jealousy component?

"You hear around the league that we’re always on [national] TV,'' Youkilis said, "and the first thing I would say is, please take us off TV. We’d all appreciate it. We'd like our games to be a minute and a half between innings and try to get on the road as quick as possible. But we’re in a market where it sells.''
