Need to correct one thing from yesterday since someone well-meaning misspoke: Leagues in South Korea and Japan may very well honor the MLB ban on Jenrry Mejia, but they are not technically affiliated with MLB, so they are not by some agreement forced to do so. Regardless, Mejia would be free to participate in winter leagues while banned, including in the Dominican Republic.

Best known for his defensive tenacity, Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart didn't get much of a chance to showcase his strengths during Friday's Rising Stars Challenge. Defense took a back seat as Smart and the U.S. posted a 157-154 triumph over the World at All-Star weekend in Toronto. Smart hit his first shot a 3-pointer just 30 seconds into the game, but went scoreless the rest of the way. Smart started for US and added four rebounds and five assists over 21:40.
